Our Vision
To be the home of student investing in Western Australia.
We want the Student Managed Investment Fund to be the leading destination for ambitious Western Australian students seeking to understand how capital is genuinely managed. Our objective is straightforward: to operate a credible, well respected fund that equips members with the skills, confidence and professional network to pursue leading careers in finance.
Our Mission
To develop the next generation of finance professionals.
University provides the theory; the Student Managed Investment Fund provides the opportunity to apply it. Through the Frontier Fund, members research companies, present their recommendations to the team and make genuine investment decisions with real capital at stake. It is an experience no textbook can replicate, and precisely what employers value.
What we do
Built around four core functions.
Our work is organised across four core areas.
Research
Members conduct rigorous analysis of real companies in the manner of professional analysts, building financial models, valuing businesses and testing every assumption. No idea enters the fund without robust evidence to support it.
Portfolio Management
Ideas that withstand scrutiny become live positions in the Frontier Fund. Members determine position sizing, manage risk, monitor performance and report to the team, taking ownership of both the successes and the lessons that follow.
Education
Experienced members deliver regular workshops on valuation, financial modelling, accounting and market structure, ensuring every member can contribute from the outset, regardless of their academic background.
Professional Development
Through industry evenings, sponsor events and an established alumni network, members develop the connections that open doors, with many progressing to highly regarded internships and graduate positions across the finance industry.
